The idea to create kids' equipment sharing platform for travelling parents hit me hard back in 2015 while travelling with my 11 month old baby girl Sophia. This trip is all another, long and worth telling story, but let me summarise the key features of KIDNGO that makes it great service to use.
1. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PACK AS MUCH WHEN YOU RENT BABIES’ AND TODDLERS’ EQUIPMENT AT YOUR TRAVEL DESTINATION FROM A LOCAL FAMILY.
Traveling with kids is overwhelming as it is. So why torture yourself by tossing around a travel crib, a car seat, a stroller or unreasonable amount of toys? Packing only necessities means less stress when air travelling and fewer baggage fees for smart parents.
2. SOMETIMES LITTLE DETAILS MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE.
We all have our habits and routines. Especially our little ones get easily attached to it. Some can sleep only in a full-sized crib, some prefer swinging cots. Little humans like routine and making your vacation spot similar to home could save you lots of nerves and energy. A full-sized crib may feel familiar and a bouncer that you use daily may add safety feeling for your little one. And who could argue that a high chair makes meals easier? Even if staying with family and friends who do not have it, you will be happy you rented one for more manageable meals. Renting all kids equipment that you need from other local family makes sense every time when you are far away from home and want to save time, energy and money. This way little details do not ruin your long waited holiday.
3. CAR SEATS ARE REQUIRED BY LAW, AND BY COMMON SENSE.
If you plan to rent a car at your destination, you want to be sure that your kids are safe while riding with you. So, how to achieve this? Firstly, by renting a car seat that fits your kids age and is tested and trusted by you. Of corse, you can get a car seat from car rental company, but usually they use the cheapest items and goes with the policy “one size fits all”. Or at least they think it does. But does it? And do not get me started about the hygiene there. Another thing to be aware of is that, from time to time, the car rentals run out of car seats. This happened to my family twice! And we have booked it in advance!
Even if you are not planning to rent a car, most likely you will be using regular Taxi or Uber. In majority of the countries all around the world, it is stated by law that you must use a car seat for your babies. And where it is not stated so, it is wise to trust your common sense, which I hope screams out of fear when you even think of not using a car seat for your little ones.
With some airlines, you can gate check car seats at no extra fees, but you will still need to carry it, plus all other stuff, through the airport. Is it really worth it? Good mood and energy are very limited resources. If you are traveling with toddlers, I hope you have a strong back or I really recommend finding a car seat you need at your travel destination.
4. PARENTS THOROUGHLY CLEAN AND SANITISE THEIR GEAR.
You can never trust a car rental about the safety or hygiene of their items. The same thing is applicable to travel cribs offered for free at hotels or Airbnbs. Versus cribs rented from caring parents who know how important this stuff is.
5. MORE ROOM IN YOUR CAR IS ALWAYS WELCOME.
When planning a road trip with your kids and packing all the luggages into the trunk, you might think renting at least some of your baby and toddler travel gear. Car seat obviously is not necessary, but you might want to leave your high chair or toddlers bicycle at home.
6. SAVE SPACE IN YOUR LUGGAGES.
How long does it take for you to pack? How do you decide what is important and what could stay at home? If you have children, one, two or more, you just might have too much stuff to bring along. Sometimes it might even be impossible to pack all you need. Stuffing two cribs, a double stroller, and a gang of toys - seems like mission impossible. And whose toy gets the priority?
KIDNGO community might save you some nerves here too. It is a little like teleporting all the stuff you need to other country.
7. TRY OUT NEW BABY AND TODDLER GEAR BEFORE BUYING.
Not sure if your kid will be into new toy? Or there is doubt if you want to purchase that expensive baby carrier, video monitor or fancy stroller you have laid your eyes on? This is a great opportunity to test it! Rent one and then decide! It costs less and you can test it out before spending all that money.
What is for sure, renting baby gear makes it easier to take care of your family while away from home. So when planning a trip with a little one, make sure to take a look at the KID’N’GO listings from local families around the world.
8. GREAT AND EASY WAY TO EARN EXTRA MONEY.
If you have extra baby or toddler travel gear at home, join KIDNGO community and make money renting your kids equipment to other travelling families. New acquaintances and extra money - guaranteed!
